Mediterranean Gull, Ferry Meadows

This confiding bird is just into its second week at Ferry Meadows. Often coming to food near the visitor centre it is a photographer's dream. The tail pattern is interesting. Mostly typical of juvenile plumage, a few feathers on the outer right side are all white, already in 2nd summer plumage. Asymmetry like this is unusual and might be due to it losing some feathers at some point.

First Common Tern of the year was also at the park but strangely no hirundines at all.
